Method
Prepare the Meat Filling
- 1
Cook the Meat
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or shredded chicken. Cook until browned (if using ground beef) and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- 2
Add Seasoning
Stir in the taco seasoning and a splash of water (about 1/4 cup). Mix well and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
Assemble the Burritos
- 3
Warm the Tortillas
In a separate skillet or microwave, warm the large flour tortillas for about 10-15 seconds until pliable.
- 4
Fill the Tortillas
Lay a warm tortilla on a flat surface. Spread about 1/4 cup of refried beans down the center of the tortilla, followed by 1/4 cup of cooked rice, a generous portion of the meat filling, and 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
- 5
Add Optional Toppings
Top with desired amounts of sour cream, salsa, guacamole, chopped lettuce, and diced tomatoes.
- 6
Roll the Burrito
Fold in the sides of the tortilla and then roll it tightly from the bottom up to enclose the filling.
Serve
- 7
Slice and Serve
Cut the burrito in half and serve immediately with additional toppings if desired.
