Method

Cooking the Meat

  1. 1

    Cook the Meat

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or chicken. Cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.

Making the Cheese Dip

  1. 2

    Prepare the Cheese Mixture

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, diced green chilies, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until smooth and fully combined.

  2. 3

    Heat the Cheese Dip

In the same skillet used for the meat, reduce heat to low. Add the cheese mixture to the skillet and stir continuously until melted and creamy, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 4

    Combine with Meat

Once the cheese dip is ready, add the cooked ground meat to the skillet with the cheese mixture. Stir well to combine and heat through for another 2-3 minutes.

Preparing Pico de Gallo

  1. 5

    Mix Pico de Gallo

In a separate bowl, combine diced tomatoes, red onion, chopped cilantro, minced jalapeño, lime juice, and salt. Mix well and let sit for 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld.

Serving

  1. 6

    Assemble the Dish

Serve the cheese and meat mixture in a large bowl or platter. Top generously with the freshly prepared pico de gallo.
