Churro Dough

Cinnamon Sugar Coating

Method

Churro Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil Water and Butter

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Heat over medium heat until the butter is melted and the mixture comes to a boil.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Remove the saucepan from heat, and quickly add 1 cup of all-purpose flour. Stir vigorously with a wooden spoon until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Allow the dough to cool for a few minutes, then add 2 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.

Cinnamon Sugar Coating Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix Sugar and Cinnamon

In a shallow bowl, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon. Mix thoroughly and set aside.

Frying Churros

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or a large pot, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Pipe the Dough

Transfer the churro dough into a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Once the oil is hot, carefully pipe 4-6 inch lengths of dough directly into the oil, cutting the dough with scissors.

  3. 7

    Fry Until Golden

Fry churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.

  4. 8

    Coat with Cinnamon Sugar

While the churros are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated. Serve immediately.
