Preparation

1

Chill glass and ingredients

Place a highball or Collins glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes, or fill it with ice to chill while you prepare the rest of the drink. Ensure the Topo Chico and vodka are cold for best carbonation retention.

2

Measure and combine spirits

In a mixing glass or shaker (no shaking required), pour 1.5 oz vodka, 0.5 oz simple syrup, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz fresh lemon juice (if using). Stir gently to combine; the goal is to integrate flavors without losing fizz later.

Assembly

3

Add ice

Discard chilling ice from the serving glass if you used it to chill. Fill the chilled highball or Collins glass with fresh ice cubes, leaving about 1 inch of headspace.

4

Add spirit mixture

Strain the vodka/citrus/simple syrup mixture over the ice to avoid extra dilution from any leftover water in the mixing glass.

5

Top with Topo Chico

Slowly pour 12 oz chilled Topo Chico down the side of the glass to preserve carbonation. Pour gently to avoid foaming and to keep bubbles lively.

6

Adjust and taste

Stir once gently with a bar spoon (one full turn) to marry the ingredients without flattening the seltzer. Taste and add up to 0.25 oz more simple syrup or a squeeze of lime if you prefer sweeter or more acidic.

7

Garnish and serve

Garnish with a lime wedge or wheel on the rim. Serve immediately with a straw or without to retain fizz—encourage sipping to enjoy carbonation.
