Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Meatballs
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ricotta cheese, breadcrumbs, grated parmesan, egg, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
- 2
Form the Meatballs
Roll the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet.
- 3
Cook the Meatballs
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches and cook until browned on all sides, about 10 minutes total. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- 4
Make the Marinara Sauce
In the same skillet, add crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, basil, and sugar. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
- 5
Combine Meatballs and Sauce
Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer for an additional 15-20 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through.
- 6
Serve
Serve the meatballs hot with the marinara sauce over spaghetti or on their own.
