Chicharron Ingredients
Method
Chicharron Preparation
Prepare the Pork Belly
Start by cutting the pork belly into 1-inch pieces. Ensure that there is a good amount of fat on each piece to achieve crispiness.
Marinate the Pork
In a bowl, combine the pork belly pieces with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and lemon juice. Mix well to coat the pieces evenly. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the refrigerator for best results.
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Fry the Pork Belly
Carefully add the marinated pork belly pieces to the hot oil. Fry in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 10-15 minutes. Turn occasionally for even cooking.
Drain and Serve
Once the pork pieces are crispy, use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve immediately as a snack or appetizer with your favorite dipping sauce.
