Bread

Method

Making the Dough

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let it Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Baking the Bread

  1. 5

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 6

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into a loaf or divide it into smaller rolls.

  3. 7

    Second Rise

Place the shaped dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover it, and let it rise for another 30 minutes.

  4. 8

    Bake the Bread

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.

Serving

  1. 9

    Prepare the Butter

While the bread is baking, soften the unsalted butter and mix in sea salt and chopped fresh herbs.

  2. 10

    Serve

Once the bread is done, let it cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm with the herb-infused butter.
