Crispy Thai Pork Belly
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Pork Belly
Score the skin of the pork belly in a crosshatch pattern. Rub the salt, black pepper, and garlic powder all over the pork belly, ensuring it gets into the scores.
- 2
Cook the Pork Belly
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Place the pork belly skin-side down and cook until the skin is crispy, about 10-15 minutes. Flip the pork belly and cook for an additional 10-15 minutes. Once fully cooked, remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing into bite-sized pieces.
- 3
Make the Basil Dip
In a bowl, combine the fresh basil leaves, fish sauce, sugar, lime juice, and chili flakes. Mix well until the sugar is dissolved and the dip is well combined.
- 4
Serve
Serve the crispy pork belly with the basil dip on the side.
