Shumai Ingredients

Method

Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Filling

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, crabmeat, minced garlic, minced ginger, chopped Thai basil, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

  2. 2

    Assemble the Shumai

Take a wonton wrapper and place about 1 tablespoon of the filling mixture in the center. Gather the edges of the wrapper and pinch to form a cup shape, leaving the top open. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.

  3. 3

    Steaming Option

If steaming, line a steamer basket with parchment paper and place the shumai in it. Steam over boiling water for about 15-20 minutes until cooked through. Top with fried garlic before serving.

  4. 4

    Frying Option

If deep frying, heat oil in a deep pan. Carefully place the shumai in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. For skewering, thread cooked shumai onto skewers with tomatoes.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the shumai hot with shoyu soy sauce for dipping.
