Method
Fish Marinade Preparation
- 1
Marinate the Fish
In a mixing bowl, combine the fish fillets with lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, and coriander powder. Mix well to ensure the fish is evenly coated. Cover the bowl and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
Batter Preparation
- 2
Prepare the Batter
In another bowl, whisk together the gram flour, rice flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add water to create a smooth batter with a thick consistency. Stir in ajwain (carom seeds) for added flavor.
Frying
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat the oil over medium heat until hot but not smoking.
- 4
Coat the Fish
Take the marinated fish fillets and dip each piece into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.
- 5
Fry the Fish Pakoras
Carefully drop the coated fish pieces into the hot oil, a few at a time, to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes, turning occasionally for even cooking.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Once cooked, remove the fish pakoras using a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve hot with green chutney or tamarind sauce.
