Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Noodles

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the chowmein noodles and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Chicken

While the noodles are cooking, cut the chicken breast into thin strips and season with salt and black pepper.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté the Chicken

In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

  2. 4

    Stir-fry the Vegetables

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil if needed. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Then, add the bell pepper, carrot, green onions, and cabbage. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.

  3. 5

    Combine Chicken and Noodles

Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the vegetables. Add the cooked chowmein noodles and toss everything together.

  4. 6

    Prepare the Sauce

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water. Pour the sauce over the chicken and noodle mixture in the skillet, tossing to coat everything evenly.

  5. 7

    Finish Cooking

Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens and everything is heated through. Adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper as needed.

Serving

  1. 8

    Plate and Serve

Serve the chicken chowmein hot, garnished with additional green onions if desired. Enjoy your meal!
