Dough

Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add water while mixing the flour with your hands until the dough comes together. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.

  2. 2

    Rest the Dough

Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes to 1 hour. This will make it easier to roll out.

Filling Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare the Filling

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, minced ginger, green chili, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, and chopped cilantro. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Assembling Mo:Mo

  1. 4

    Roll the Dough

After the dough has rested, divide it into small balls (about the size of a golf ball). On a lightly floured surface, roll each ball into a thin circle (about 3-4 inches in diameter).

  2. 5

    Fill the Mo:Mo

Place about 1 tablespoon of the filling mixture in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape, and pinch the edges to seal tightly. You can also pleat the edges for a decorative look.

Steaming Mo:Mo

  1. 6

    Prepare the Steamer

Fill a steamer pot with water and bring it to a boil. Line the steamer basket with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

  2. 7

    Steam the Mo:Mo

Place the filled Mo:Mo in the steamer basket, making sure they are not touching each other. Cover and steam for about 15-20 minutes until the dough is cooked and slightly translucent.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve Warm

Remove the Mo:Mo from the steamer and serve warm with dipping sauce, such as a spicy chili sauce or soy sauce.
