Burger Patty

Toppings

Method

Prepare the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 1 inch thick. Make a slight indent in the center of each patty with your thumb to help it cook evenly.

Cook the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium-rare, or longer if desired.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty and cover to melt the cheese.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 6

    Prepare the Toppings

While the patties are cooking, wash the lettuce leaves and slice the tomato and onion into rings.

  2. 7

    Toast the Buns

If desired, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  3. 8

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, spread ketchup and mustard. Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on top, followed by lettuce, tomato, and onion. Top with the other half of the bun.
