Method

Preparing the Coffee

  1. 1

    Step 1: Measure Ingredients

Measure out 200 ml of cold water and pour it into a traditional Greek coffee pot (briki).

  2. 2

    Step 2: Add Coffee

Add 2 tablespoons of Greek coffee to the water in the briki.

  3. 3

    Step 3: Add Sugar (Optional)

If you prefer your coffee sweet, add 1 tablespoon of sugar to the mixture. Stir gently to combine.

  4. 4

    Step 4: Heat the Coffee

Place the briki on low heat. Allow the coffee to heat slowly. Do not stir once it begins heating.

  5. 5

    Step 5: Froth Formation

Watch for the coffee to start to froth. Before it boils over, remove from heat.

  6. 6

    Step 6: Serve the Coffee

Pour the coffee into a small cup, making sure not to pour the grounds that settle at the bottom of the briki.
