Method

Prepare the Filling

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded cooked chicken, cream cheese, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well blended and creamy.

Assemble the Flautas

  1. 2

    Fill the Tortillas

Take a corn tortilla and spread about 2 tablespoons of the chicken filling down the center of the tortilla. Roll the tortilla tightly around the filling and secure with a toothpick if necessary. Repeat with the remaining tortillas and filling.

Fry the Flautas

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 4

    Fry the Flautas

Carefully place 3-4 flautas in the hot oil, frying for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Remove flautas from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Repeat until all flautas are cooked.

Serve the Flautas

  1. 5

    Add Toppings

Remove toothpicks if used, and place the fried flautas on a serving plate. Top each flauta with a dollop of sour cream, a sprinkle of shredded cheese, a spoonful of pico de gallo, and a scoop of guacamole.
