Method

Corndog Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Add Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together milk and egg. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until combined.

  3. 3

    Prepare Hot Dogs

Insert wooden skewers into the hot dogs, leaving enough stick out for holding.

  4. 4

    Heat Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat oil to 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Dip and Fry Corndogs

Dip each hot dog into the batter, ensuring it’s fully coated. Carefully place the batter-coated hot dog into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Fries Preparation

  1. 6

    Cut the Potatoes

Peel the potatoes (if desired) and cut them into thin strips to form fries.

  2. 7

    Heat Oil for Frying

In a separate pot or deep fryer, heat oil to 350°F (175°C).

  3. 8

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the cut potatoes into the hot oil. Fry until they are golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  4. 9

    Season the Fries

While still hot, sprinkle salt over the fries to taste.
