Method

Cake Preparation

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

2

Prepare the Topping

In a 9-inch round cake pan, melt the butter in the oven. Once melted, remove the pan and sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the butter. Arrange the pineapple slices on top of the sugar and place a maraschino cherry in the center of each pineapple slice.

3

Mix the Batter

In a large bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Mix well. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

4

Pour and Bake

Pour the batter over the pineapple and cherries in the cake pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

5

Cool and Invert

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, carefully invert the cake onto a serving plate, allowing the pineapple topping to be on top.
