Method

Chili Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Ground Beef

In a large pot over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.

  2. 2

    Add Vegetables and Spices

Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pot. Sauté for about 3 minutes until the onion is translucent. Stir in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Add Tomatoes and Beans

Pour in the canned diced tomatoes (with juice) and kidney beans. Add 1 cup of water and stir to combine.

  4. 4

    Simmer the Chili

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and let it simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Fries Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and cut the potatoes into fries. Pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

  2. 6

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).

  3. 7

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the fries to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes per batch. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  4. 8

    Season the Fries

Sprinkle the fried potatoes with salt while they are still hot.

Assembly

  1. 9

    Assemble the Dish

On a large serving plate, layer the hot fries, then spoon the chili over the fries, and top with shredded cheddar cheese and sliced green onions.

  2. 10

    Serve Immediately

Serve the chili cheese fries hot, allowing the cheese to melt slightly over the chili.
