Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Shrimp

In a large bowl, combine the shrimp, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Toss until the shrimp are evenly coated with the seasonings. Let marinate for 15 minutes.

Breading

  1. 2

    Prepare the Breading Station

Set up three shallow dishes: one with flour, one with beaten eggs mixed with milk, and one with panko breadcrumbs. This will allow you to bread the shrimp easily.

  2. 3

    Bread the Shrimp

Dredge each seasoned shrimp in flour, shaking off the excess. Dip it into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then coat with panko breadcrumbs. Place the breaded shrimp on a plate and repeat until all shrimp are breaded.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large frying pan or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil readiness by dropping a small piece of bread into it; if it sizzles and turns golden brown, it’s ready.

  2. 5

    Fry the Shrimp

Working in batches, carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to remove the shrimp and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve the Fried Shrimp

Arrange the fried shrimp on a serving platter. Serve hot with lemon wedges and cocktail sauce on the side for dipping.
