Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Rinse the shrimp under cold water and set aside. Cut the corn into halves and halve the new potatoes. Smash the garlic cloves to release their flavor.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Boil the Vegetables

In a large pot, bring 8 quarts of water to a boil over high heat. Add the halved new potatoes, corn, smashed garlic, Old Bay seasoning, salt, black peppercorns, and bay leaves. Allow the mixture to boil for about 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender.

  2. 3

    Cook the Shrimp

Once the potatoes are tender, add the shrimp to the pot. Squeeze in the juice from the halved lemons and then add the lemon halves to the pot as well. Boil for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.

  3. 4

    Drain and Serve

Carefully drain the contents of the pot in a colander. You can optionally serve the shrimp and vegetables on a newspaper-covered table for a traditional experience. Enjoy with melted butter or cocktail sauce on the side.
