Method

Prepare the Seafood

  1. 1

    Clean the Seafood

Thoroughly clean the shrimp, crabs, and mussels under cold running water. Discard any mussels that do not close when tapped.

Boil the Seafood

  1. 2

    Prepare the Boil

In a large stockpot, bring 4 quarts of water to a rolling boil over high heat.

  2. 3

    Add Seasoning

Stir in the Old Bay seasoning, halved lemons, smashed garlic cloves, bay leaves, salt, and cayenne pepper into the boiling water. Let it boil for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.

  3. 4

    Cook the Seafood

Add the blue crabs first and boil for 10 minutes. Then add the mussels and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Finally, add the shrimp and cook for another 3-5 minutes or until they turn pink and opaque.

  4. 5

    Drain and Serve

Remove the pot from heat and drain the seafood using a large colander. Serve immediately on a platter.

Prepare the Dipping Sauce

  1. 6

    Mix the Sauce

In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, hot sauce, and lemon juice. Mix until well blended.
