Method

Dough Preparation

1

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, salt, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix well until evenly combined.

2

Add Cheese and Butter

Add the shredded cheddar cheese and softened unsalted butter to the dry ingredients. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

3

Combine with Water

Gradually add water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until a dough forms. You may not need all the water, so add just enough for the dough to come together.

4

Chill the Dough

Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.

Shaping and Baking

5

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) while the dough is chilling.

6

Roll Out the Dough

Once chilled, take the dough out of the refrigerator and roll it out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness.

7

Cut into Shapes

Using a fish-shaped cookie cutter or a knife, cut the dough into small fish shapes. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

8

Bake the Goldfish

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.

9

Cool and Serve

Once baked, remove the goldfish from the oven and allow them to cool on a wire rack. Serve as a snack or appetizer.
