Equipment
Method
Prepare Water and Flavors
Heat water
Pour 3 cups of fresh cold water into a kettle or small saucepan. Heat over medium-high heat until it reaches a rolling simmer (just below boiling) — about 200–205°F (93–96°C). If using a stovetop, once small bubbles form and steam rises, it's ready.
Infuse optional flavors (if using)
If you want ginger or whole spices, add the thinly sliced ginger and whole spices to the water as it heats. Let them simmer together for 2–3 minutes to release aroma and flavor.
Steep Tea
Finish and Serve
Sweeten and add milk or lemon
Taste the tea and add optional sweeteners: up to 1 tablespoon sugar or 1 teaspoon honey per cup, stirring until dissolved. If you prefer milk, add about 1 tablespoon milk per cup. For lemon, add one thin slice per cup (do not add milk if using lemon).
Serve
Serve hot immediately in pre-warmed mugs. Adjust additions to taste and enjoy.
