Baked Ziti Ingredients

Method

Baked Ziti Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Ziti

Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the ziti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Meat Sauce

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sauté until softened. Add the ground turkey or beef, and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.

  3. 3

    Combine with Sauce

Stir in the marinara sauce and Italian seasoning into the meat mixture. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Let simmer for about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Mix the Cheeses

In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese with a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well.

  5. 5

    Layer the Ingredients

In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom. Layer half of the cooked ziti over the sauce, then add half of the ricotta mixture, followed by half of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers with the remaining meat sauce, ziti, ricotta, and mozzarella. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.

  6. 6

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  7. 7

    Serve

Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your baked ziti!
