Method

Beef Marinade

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil. Stir well until the sugar is dissolved.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Beef

Place the flank steak in a resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over it. Seal the bag, ensuring the steak is well coated. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best flavor.

Rice Preparation

  1. 3

    Cook the Rice

In a saucepan, combine jasmine rice and water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes until rice is cooked and water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.

Vegetable Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare the Vegetables

In a pot of boiling water, blanch the broccoli florets and sliced carrots for 2-3 minutes until vibrant and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.

Cooking the Beef

  1. 5

    Grill the Beef

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove the flank steak from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Grill the steak for about 5-7 minutes per side for medium-rare. Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Plate the Dish

On a serving plate, place a scoop of jasmine rice. Arrange the sliced teriyaki beef on top, followed by the blanched vegetables. Garnish with chopped green onions and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
