Steak Poke

Rice or Toss Salad Base

Method

Prepare the Steak Poke

  1. 1

    Marinate the Steak

In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, and green onions. Slice the flank steak into thin strips and add to the marinade. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator to absorb the flavors.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the steak is marinating, thinly slice the cucumber and avocado. Set them aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the Flank Steak

After marinating, heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the steak strips for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your desired doneness. Remove from heat and let rest before slicing into bite-sized pieces.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Poke

In a large bowl, combine the cooked steak, sesame seeds, and sriracha. Toss gently to mix.

Prepare the Rice or Toss Salad

  1. 5

    Prepare the Sushi Rice

If using sushi rice, combine the cooked rice with rice vinegar and sugar in a bowl. Mix well to ensure the rice is seasoned evenly.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Toss Salad

In a separate bowl, mix the mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, olive oil, and lemon juice. Toss well to combine.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Assemble the Bowl

In serving bowls, create a bed of either sushi rice or toss salad. Top with the marinated steak poke, cucumber, and avocado slices. Drizzle with additional soy sauce if desired. Serve immediately.
