Method

Preparing the Steak

  1. 1

    Bring to Room Temperature

Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps the steaks to cook more evenly.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Skillet

Preheat a cast-iron skillet or grill over high heat. Add the olive oil to the pan and let it heat until shimmering.

  3. 3

    Season the Steaks

Season both sides of the steaks generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steaks

Place the steaks in the hot skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or to your desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer if necessary: 130°F for medium-rare.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steaks

Once cooked, remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Cooking the Eggs

  1. 6

    Melt the Butter

In a separate skillet, add the butter and melt it over medium heat.

  2. 7

    Cook the Eggs

Crack the eggs into the skillet, and cook them sunny-side up or to your preference. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  3. 8

    Serve the Eggs

Once the whites are set but the yolks are still runny (or cooked to your liking), carefully remove the eggs from the skillet.

Serving

  1. 9

    Plate the Dish

Slice the rested ribeye steaks and arrange them on plates. Top with the cooked eggs.

  2. 10

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish with fresh parsley and a drizzle of hot sauce if desired. Serve immediately.
