For the Chicken

Method

Prepare the Chicken

  1. 1

    Cut and Marinate

Cut the boneless, skinless chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces and marinate them in a mixture of soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and black pepper for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Coat the Chicken

After marinating, toss the chicken pieces in cornstarch to coat them evenly. This will help create a crispy texture when fried.

Fry the Chicken

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.

  2. 4

    Fry the Chicken

Add the coated chicken pieces to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the chicken and drain on paper towels.

Prepare the Sauce

  1. 5

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, and rice vinegar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.

  2. 6

    Add Toppings

Stir in sesame seeds and sliced green onions just before removing from heat. Mix well.

Serve the Dish

  1. 7

    Combine Chicken and Sauce

In a large bowl, toss the fried chicken pieces with the prepared sauce until well coated.

  2. 8

    Plate and Enjoy

Serve the sesame chicken hot over rice or noodles, garnished with extra green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
