Method

Wonton Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center, add the egg and water, and mix until a dough forms.

  2. 2

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Wrap in plastic wrap and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.

Filling Preparation

  1. 3

    Combine Ingredients

In a large bowl, mix together the ground pork, chopped green onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper until well combined.

  2. 4

    Chill the Filling

Cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to allow flavors to meld.

Wonton Assembly

  1. 5

    Roll Out the Dough

After resting, roll out the dough on a floured surface as thin as possible. Cut into squares (about 3x3 inches).

  2. 6

    Fill the Wontons

Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of each square. Moisten the edges with water, fold in half to create a triangle, and press to seal. Make sure there are no air pockets.

  3. 7

    Shape the Wontons

For a traditional shape, bring the two corners of the triangle together and pinch to seal, forming a ring.

Cooking the Wontons

  1. 8

    Prepare to Cook

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Optionally, you can add a pinch of salt.

  2. 9

    Cook the Wontons

Carefully drop the wontons into the boiling water. Cook for about 4-6 minutes or until they float to the surface and are cooked through.

  3. 10

    Remove and Drain

Using a slotted spoon, remove the cooked wontons and drain them on paper towels.

Dipping Sauce Preparation

  1. 11

    Mix the Sauce

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, chili oil, sugar, and sesame seeds until well combined.
