Method
Grilled Cheese
- 1
Prepare the Bread and Cheese
Place two slices of sourdough bread on a clean cutting board. Layer each slice with a slice of cheddar cheese. Top with the remaining slices of sourdough bread to form two sandwiches.
- 2
Butter the Bread
Spread 1 tablespoon of butter on the outside of each sandwich. Sprinkle a pinch of garlic powder and a little salt on the buttered sides.
- 3
- 4
Serve
Once cooked, remove the grilled cheese from the skillet, slice in half, and set aside to cool slightly.
French Fries
- 5
Prepare the Potatoes
Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips to form fries.
- 6
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure the oil is hot enough for frying.
- 7
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully drop the cut fries into the hot oil in batches, avoiding overcrowding. Fry for about 4-5 minutes until golden and crispy.
- 8
Drain and Season
Remove the fries with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Immediately sprinkle with salt while they are still hot.
- 9
Serve
Serve the hot fries alongside the grilled cheese sandwiches for a delicious meal.
