Method

Beef Marinade Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Beef

In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Whisk together until the brown sugar is dissolved.

  2. 2

    Add the Beef

Slice the flank steak against the grain into thin strips. Add the beef strips to the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for best results.

Vegetable Preparation

  1. 3

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the beef is marinating, wash and slice the bell pepper into thin strips, cut the broccoli into florets, and julienne the carrot. Set aside.

Cooking the Beef and Vegetables

  1. 4

    Stir-Fry the Beef

In a large skillet or wok, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Remove the beef from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and add it to the skillet. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked through.

  2. 5

    Add the Vegetables

Add the sliced bell pepper, broccoli florets, and julienned carrot to the skillet. Stir-fry for an additional 3-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.

  3. 6

    Add the Marinade

Pour the reserved marinade over the beef and vegetables. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the beef and vegetables.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate the Dish

Serve the beef teriyaki over a bed of cooked rice. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish.
