Hummus

Grilled Pita

Method

Hummus Preparation

  1. 1

    Rinse the Chickpeas

Open the can of chickpeas and drain them. Rinse under cold water in a colander to remove excess sodium and preservatives.

  2. 2

    Blend the Ingredients

In a food processor, combine the rinsed chickpeas, tahini, garlic cloves, lemon juice, olive oil, ground cumin, and salt. Blend until smooth.

  3. 3

    Adjust Texture

If the hummus is too thick, add water one tablespoon at a time until desired consistency is reached. Blend again after each addition.

  4. 4

    Taste and Adjust Seasoning

Taste the hummus and adjust the salt as needed. Blend once more to ensure even seasoning.

Grilled Pita Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare the Grill

Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium heat.

  2. 6

    Brush the Pita

In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, garlic powder, and salt. Brush this mixture generously on both sides of the pita bread.

  3. 7

    Grill the Pita

Place the brushed pita bread on the grill. Grill each side for about 1-2 minutes, or until you see grill marks and the pita is warmed through.

  4. 8

    Serve Warm

Remove the grilled pita from the grill and cut into triangles. Serve warm with the prepared hummus.
