Shrimp Preparation

Breading and Frying

Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Shrimp

In a bowl, combine the shrimp with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and lemon juice. Toss until the shrimp are evenly coated. Let them marinate for about 15 minutes.

Breading and Frying

  1. 2

    Prepare the Breading Stations

Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes. In the first dish, add the all-purpose flour. In the second dish, whisk together the eggs and milk until fully combined. In the third dish, place the breadcrumbs.

  2. 3

    Bread the Shrimp

Take each marinated shrimp and first coat it in the flour, shaking off any excess. Then, dip it into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat the shrimp with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure they adhere well. Repeat this process for all shrimp.

  3. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of bread into it; if it sizzles immediately, the oil is ready.

  4. 5

    Fry the Shrimp

Carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried shrimp to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

  5. 6

    Serve

Serve the golden fried shrimp hot with your choice of dipping sauce, such as cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, or a squeeze of lemon.
