Method
Preparation
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the chicken drumettes with buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In a separate bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Cooking
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
- 5
Coat the Drumettes
Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator. Dip each drumette first into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then coat it in the flour mixture, pressing gently to ensure the coating sticks.
- 6
Fry the Drumettes
Carefully place the coated drumettes into the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 75°C (165°F).
- 7
Drain and Serve
Use a slotted spoon to remove the drumettes from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce.
