Method

Cooking Rice

  1. 1

    Prepare the Rice

In a medium pot, combine the white rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Simmer the Rice

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.

Cooking Beef Patties

  1. 3

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, soy sauce, green onion, garlic powder, black pepper, and 1 egg. Mix until well combined.

  2. 4

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties.

  3. 5

    Cook the Patties

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they are well browned and cooked to your desired doneness. In the last minute of cooking, crack the second egg on top of each patty to fry it.

Making Gravy

  1. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a saucepan, combine the beef broth, soy sauce, black pepper, and sesame oil. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.

  2. 7

    Thicken the Gravy

In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Slowly whisk the slurry into the simmering broth. Continue to cook for 2-3 minutes until the gravy thickens.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Plate the Rice

Spoon a generous portion of rice onto each plate.

  2. 9

    Add Patties

Place two beef patties on top of the rice on each plate.

  3. 10

    Pour Gravy

Ladle the thick gravy over the patties.

  4. 11

    Garnish

Top with fried onions, sliced green onions, and a drizzle of sriracha sauce to taste.
