Method

Cooking Rice

  1. 1

    Prepare the Rice

Rinse 1 cup of jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear. In a medium pot, combine the rinsed rice and 1.5 cups of water. Bring to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Simmer

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 15 minutes or until the water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for another 10 minutes.

Cooking BBQ Beef

  1. 3

    Marinate the Beef

In a bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, 2 teaspoons of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, and 0.5 teaspoons of black pepper. Add 0.5 pounds of sliced beef sirloin and marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Beef

Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until cooked to your desired doneness.

Preparing Chilled Vegetables

  1. 5

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the beef is cooking, julienne 1 medium carrot and 1 medium cucumber. Blanch 1 cup of spinach in boiling water for 1 minute, then immediately transfer to an ice bath to cool. Drain and squeeze out excess water.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Vegetables

In a small bowl, combine the julienned carrot, cucumber, blanched spinach, and 0.5 cups of thinly sliced radish. Sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds.

Assembling Bibimbap

  1. 7

    Assemble the Dish

In a serving bowl, add a generous scoop of cooked rice. Top with the grilled BBQ beef, chilled vegetables, and a fried egg. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of gochujang and garnish with chopped green onions.

  2. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately, allowing everyone to mix the ingredients together before eating.
