Potato Preparation
Garlic Parmesan Topping
Dipping Sauce (optional)
Method
Frying the Potatoes
- 1
Prepare the Potatoes
Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, approximately 1/4 inch thick, to resemble fries.
- 2
Soak the Potatoes
Soak the cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch, which helps achieve a crispier texture.
- 3
Dry the Potatoes
Drain the soaked fries and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.
- 5
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add the dried fries to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Drain the Fries
Remove the fries from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle salt over them immediately while they're still hot.
