Noodles

Method

Preparation of Noodles

  1. 1

    Cook the Noodles

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the Lo Mein noodles and cook according to package instructions, usually about 5-7 minutes. Once cooked, drain and rinse with cold water to stop cooking.

Vegetable and Protein Preparation

  1. 2

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the noodles are cooking, wash and slice the bell pepper, julienne the carrot, and chop the broccoli into florets. Trim the ends of the snow peas and slice the green onions.

  2. 3

    Cook the Protein (if using)

In a large skillet or wok, heat a tablespoon of sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add the cooked chicken or shrimp and stir-fry until heated through and slightly browned, about 3-5 minutes.

Prepare the Sauce

  1. 4

    Mix the Sauce

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, cornstarch, and water until smooth. Set aside.

Combine and Cook

  1. 5

    Stir-Fry the Vegetables

In the same skillet or wok used for the protein, add the remaining tablespoon of sesame oil. Add the bell pepper, carrot, broccoli, snow peas, and green onions. Stir-fry for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.

  2. 6

    Combine Noodles and Sauce

Add the cooked noodles to the skillet along with the prepared sauce. Toss everything together and stir-fry for an additional 3-5 minutes until everything is heated through and the sauce has thickened.
