Quail & Waffles Ingredients
Method
Cooking Directions
- 1
Prepare the Quail
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Rinse the quail and pat dry. Season with salt and set aside.
- 2
Breading the Quail
Set up a breading station: Put flour in one bowl, whisked eggs in another, and crushed cereal in a third. Dip each quail in flour, then egg, and finally coat with cereal. Place on a baking sheet.
- 3
Bake the Quail
Bake the breaded quail in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- 4
Make the Waffle Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, and eggs. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
- 5
Cook the Waffles
Preheat the waffle iron. Pour batter into the waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions until golden and crispy.
- 6
Prepare Spiced Apples
In a pan, melt a tablespoon of butter and add sliced apples, cinnamon, and brown sugar. Cook until apples are tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- 7
Candied Pecans
In a skillet, toast pecans over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Add a tablespoon of sugar and stir until caramelized. Remove from heat.
- 8
Assemble the Dish
Serve the waffles topped with the crispy quail, slices of brie cheese, spiced apples, and candied pecans. Drizzle with maple syrup to taste.
