Method
Cooking Directions
- 1
Prepare the Meat
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until softened. Add the Italian sausage, ground beef, and ground pork. Cook until browned, breaking the meat into smaller pieces.
- 2
Make the Sauce
Stir in crushed tomatoes, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add fresh basil before serving.
- 3
Cook the Pork Shoulder
In a separate pot, add the pork shoulder with enough water to cover. Simmer for about 1.5 hours or until tender. Remove, shred the pork, and mix into the sauce.
- 4
Prepare the Riccia Pasta
Cook riccia pasta according to package instructions. Drain and toss with a bit of olive oil to prevent sticking.
- 5
Combine and Serve
Combine the cooked pasta with the sauce and meat mixture. Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
