Local Bread

Method

Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

Add the flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  5. 5

    Shape the Bread

Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased bread pan.

  6. 6

    Second Rise

Cover the pan with a cloth and let it rise again for 30-45 minutes.

  7. 7

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  8. 8

    Bake the Bread

Bake the loaf for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.

  9. 9

    Make Whipped Honey Butter

In a bowl, beat together the unsalted butter, honey, and a pinch of sea salt until creamy and well combined.

  10. 10

    Serve

Let the bread cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm with whipped honey butter.
