Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Make the Base Syrup

In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, quinine powder, citric acid, lemon zest, lime zest, and fresh herbs. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved.

  2. 2

    Simmer the Mixture

Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for 15 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse. Remove from heat and let it cool completely.

  3. 3

    Strain the Syrup

Once cooled, strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean container to remove any solids.

  4. 4

    Mix with Carbonated Water

To serve, mix about 1 part of the tonic syrup with 3 parts carbonated water in a glass. Adjust to taste.

  5. 5

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish with additional herbs or citrus slices if desired. Enjoy your homemade craft tonic water!
