For the Chocolate Lava Cake

Method

Baking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oven and Ramekins

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with flour, shaking out any excess.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Heat in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth.

  3. 3

    Mix the Batter

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, egg yolks, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture and mix until smooth. Fold in the flour until just combined.

  4. 4

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cakes

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes. The edges should be firm, but the center will be soft.

  6. 6

    Serve

Let the lava cakes cool for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate and gently lift off. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
