Cider Ingredients

Method

Cider Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare Blackberries

Wash the blackberries thoroughly and mash them slightly to release their juices.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

In a large fermentation vessel, combine the mashed blackberries, fresh apple juice, sugar, water, and spices (cinnamon stick, nutmeg, and cloves).

  3. 3

    Add Yeast

Sprinkle the yeast over the mixture and stir gently to combine.

  4. 4

    Fermentation

Cover the vessel with a clean cloth and let it sit at room temperature for 5-7 days, stirring daily. You should begin to see bubbles as fermentation starts.

  5. 5

    Strain and Bottle

After fermentation, strain the cider through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into clean bottles, discarding the solids.

  6. 6

    Seal and Store

Seal the bottles with caps or corks and store them in a cool, dark place for about 2-4 weeks to allow flavors to develop.

  7. 7

    Serve

Once ready, chill the cider and serve it in glasses. Enjoy your homemade blackberry cider!
