Spicy Remoulade
Method
Fried Green Tomatoes
- 1
Prepare the Tomatoes
Wash the green tomatoes and slice them into 1/4-inch thick slices.
- 2
Set Up Breading Station
In three separate bowls, place the all-purpose flour, buttermilk, and a mixture of cornmeal, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
- 3
Bread the Tomatoes
Dip each tomato slice first into the flour, then into the buttermilk, and finally coat it with the cornmeal mixture. Ensure each slice is evenly coated.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Tomatoes
Carefully add the breaded tomato slices to the hot oil in batches, avoiding overcrowding. Fry each side for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Spicy Remoulade
- 7
Combine Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, hot sauce, chopped capers, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper.
- 8
Mix Well
Stir the mixture until all ingredients are well combined. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- 9
Chill
Cover and refrigerate the remoulade for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
