Method
Cake Preparation
- 1
- 2
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth.
- 3
Mix the Batter
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and large egg yolks until they are pale and slightly thickened. Stir in the melted chocolate mixture followed by the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
- 4
Add Flour
Sift the all-purpose flour into the batter and gently fold it in until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- 5
Fill Ramekins
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.
- 6
Bake the Cakes
Place the ramekins on a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes. The edges should be firm, but the center should still be soft.
- 7
Cool and Serve
Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the ramekins for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate and gently lift off to unmold. Serve immediately with scoops of vanilla ice cream.
