Bread Pudding

Bourbon Sauce

Method

Bread Pudding

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bread

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the day-old bread into cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Mix the Liquid Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Bread and Liquid

Pour the liquid mixture over the bread cubes and gently fold until all the bread is soaked. If using raisins or chocolate chips, fold them in at this stage.

  4. 4

    Bake the Pudding

Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.

Bourbon Sauce

  1. 5

    Prepare the Sauce

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the brown sugar and stir until dissolved.

  2. 6

    Add Cream and Bourbon

Gradually stir in the heavy cream and allow the mixture to simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Finally, add the bourbon and stir until combined. Remove from heat.

  3. 7

    Serve

Once the bread pudding is baked and slightly cooled, serve warm with a generous drizzle of bourbon sauce over the top.
