Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tartar Sauce

In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, diced pickles, lemon juice, and capers. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside in the refrigerator.

  2. 2

    Make the Beer Batter

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and thick.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Chips

Peel and slice the potatoes into thick chips. Rinse them in cold water and pat dry with paper towels.

  4. 4

    Fry the Chips

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the chips in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels. Season with salt.

  5. 5

    Fry the Cod

Dip the cod filets into the beer batter, ensuring they are well coated. Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Plate the crispy fish and chips together. Serve with house-made tartar sauce on the side.
