Ingredients

Shrimp

Citrus Buttermilk Ranch

Preparation

Preparation of Shrimp

1. Prepare the Shrimp

In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, and black pepper. Add the shrimp and marinate for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

2. Set Up the Breading Station

In two separate shallow dishes, place the flour and cornstarch in one dish and beat the eggs in another. Dredge the marinated shrimp first in the flour/cornstarch mixture, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat again in the flour/cornstarch mixture.

Frying the Shrimp

3. Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

4. Fry the Shrimp

Carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove and drain on paper towels.

Buffalo Sauce

5. Make the Buffalo Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Once melted, stir in the hot sauce, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Mix well and bring to a simmer.

6. Toss the Shrimp

In a large mixing bowl, toss the fried shrimp with the buffalo sauce until evenly coated.

Citrus Buttermilk Ranch

7. Prepare the Ranch Dressing

In a bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, mayonnaise, lemon juice, lime juice, dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth and well combined.
