Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Glass

Select a tall glass or a highball glass for serving. It should be clean and chilled if possible.

  2. 2

    Muddle the Mint and Sugar

In the prepared glass, add the fresh mint leaves and granulated sugar. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press the mint leaves against the bottom of the glass to release their oils. Be careful not to tear them too much.

  3. 3

    Add Lime Juice

Pour in the fresh lime juice over the muddled mint and sugar mixture. Stir gently to combine.

  4. 4

    Add Rum

Pour the white rum into the glass, mixing it with the mint, sugar, and lime juice combination.

  5. 5

    Add Ice

Fill the glass with ice cubes until it is about 3/4 full.

  6. 6

    Top with Soda Water

Slowly pour the soda water over the ice until the glass is filled. This will help to maintain the fizz.

  7. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Garnish the drink with a lime wedge and a sprig of mint. Serve immediately with a straw or a stirrer.
